People love Kittens!

BankWest (Australia) have now got a trio of little kittens to sing for your money.
A truly obscure way to advertise for a bank, but maybe that will be one of the factors that gets it passed around. However it is a struggle to hear the little fellows, there singing isn't exactly crystal clear.
Reminds me slightly of a singing cat we made a while back, but obviously ours was for an estate agents, much more relevant.

Street Art

I think we have our new YBA's!
With the huge success and world wide fame of the street artist Banksy art collectors and critics have started looking seriously at street art. Recently Damien Hurst bought up every piece in a exhibition by such artists as DFace & Faile and a guy called Adam Neate who leaves paintings around east London is now selling his work for up to £36,000 .

(Adam Neate 'The Apprentice' Sold for £36,000)

However luckly James & Joe as always have there fingers on the pulse of everything cool.... A few years ago we purchased a Banksy print, a Robert Del Naja aka 3D from Massive Attack print and found an Adam Neate painting on the streets of East London (below).

We aren't sure of the exact value of any of these pieces (if any one knows please let us know) but hopefully they will one day help pay off a little student debt.
So heads up, if you have a little spare cash to slash get your hands on some of these guys work before its worth as much as an Emin or a Hurst.

Walk Along Glider

Tyler MacCready shows how he can use his head to fly a paper aeroplane. Completely controlled by the air your body moves in, this gliding toy seems like a trick at first.

Johnny Lee

Meet Johnny Chung Lee, a PhD Graduate Student from the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, Pittsburgh. We stumbled across his work having found one of his projects on YouTube, where he seems to have fashioned a home virtual reality display that bests anything currently on the shelves of HMV or even Woolworths. The resulting effect not only looks great but the technology is also stylish, check out the "sporty safetey goggle" chic:

His site is full of great ideas that explore the possibilities of modern technology and attempt to increase their accessibility. Good luck Johnny, you're doing a great job so far..

Pieter Hugo

A great set of photos featuring man and his best friend (All of which are much cooler than my pet hamster).

"These photographs came about after a friend emailed me an image taken on a cellphone through a car window in Lagos, Nigeria, which depicted a group of men walking down the street with a hyena in chains. A few days later I saw the image reproduced in a South African newspaper with the caption ‘The Streets of Lagos’. Nigerian newspapers reported that these men were bank robbers, bodyguards, drug dealers, debt collectors. Myths surrounded them. The image captivated me." - Pieter Hugo.

Visiting Parents Get Taste of Daughter

There are always those times when the parents come to visit and things get all awkward for one reason or another. This scene, courtesy of Durex, goes much further than just plain awkwardness. Instead, it delves deep inside a woman, her sexual needs and the tools through which she achieves those needs and the horror she experiences when she realizes her tool of choice has just been consumed by her parents, her husband and herself.

Our GT feature

This month we've been lucky enough to have GT magazine feature an article on us. Given the opportunity to occupy such a space, we wondered what exactly we could fill it with. Here's an extract from the interview on our choice of imagery:

"We’re constantly shocked by the many stories we hear of students in the Leeds University Library. When you get a horde of young and over worked students in one enclosed area things are bound to happen, if only to relieve a little tension. For these reasons we thought it a fun setting to explore, we’ll call it our way of saying thanks for the times librarians choose to turn a blind eye."

Brief Safe

We don't trust hotel safes, if the staff all have access to the keys how are they "safe". Those pesky buggers are the ones that are most likely to rummage around and nick your holiday cash anyway. On a resent trip to Prague we both took to ingeniously hiding wads of cash in balled up socks, right there on the floor. However then we saw these bad boys, no one, and we mean no one is gonna touch these!!

"Items can be hidden right under their noses with these specially-designed briefs which contain a fly-accessed 4" x 10" secret compartment with Velcro closure and "special markings" on the lower rear portion."
Purchase a pair here, alternatively make your own, like we did.

Accidental Charity

Yesterday we celebrated St. Valentines day. A lovely chance to forget all our worries and indulge ouselves in the fruits of life.

The opportunity to dine at a tasty eatery had to be seized. However, leaving his mobile switched on inside his trouser pocket, Joe unwittingly managed to spend his romantic date on the phone to his ex. Awful for his credit & not great for his self respect. Though, the chances of her hearing anything over the McDonalds customer announcement tannoy is unlikely, we hope.

It happens all the time. People seem to mistakingly phone their friend's Aaron, Abdul, or, as in Joe's case, Amy a lot more than they do Monty. It's not because we don't love Monty, it's because he's just not high enough on the contact list for our bums to dial.

Fascinated by this unique phenomena, we wanted to share the actions of League of The Blind...

Meet the Super Cow, this big bad fellow puts any muscle man to shame.

Shocking stuff!!

Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love!

We love you, we really do.
We thought firstly we would share with you this stunning heart designed by the amazingly talented Marian Bantjes. Please spend a while browsing her stunning work, imagine if all type was this luxurious.

Secondly, it wouldn't be a James & Joe Valentines post without a reference to our intimate relationship with classic love songs. The piece Joe likes to belt out from his Valentines morning shower and the one James loves to be woken up by:
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You (...How true)

Happy Valentines day.

"Scrappy" Chic

A few short weeks ago we had the pleasure of meeting Abi & Simon from WWAV Rapp Collins. We also had the pleasure of sharing a few drinks with them, and it wasn't long before we heard of their similar love of the weird and wonderful (which they rigorously, and beautifully, document in many a "scrappy").

We told Abi all about our unique souvenirs from a trip down under, and watched as she listened in awe of our findings. She made us promise not show them to her unless we were to give them as a gift - apparently to see and not to own them would just be too hard. Well, to keep and not to show is also difficult. So hold your noses and forget your ethics as here for the world (+ Simon & Abi) to see, we give you first look at the frog coin purse & kangaroo testis lighter holder. Lunch anyone?

2007 a Year in Ideas

The New York Times Magazine illustrates the Year in Ideas as it wraps up some of the more interesting and amazing developments of the past 12 months. Once energy is wireless we really will have a wireless world.

JAWBONE Ad

Crazy crazy advert for a little bluetooth headset. Crazy crazy crazy.
Those guys really did deserve a good chewing up however.

Water Holograms

James saw something like this a while back when he was in Singapore. They are huge holograms that are projected on to a water mist. They can have colour and if done right look stunning. Maybe we could do one on the Thames one day!

RoofBall

Is it real? Even if its not it's a great advert for Fifa. We dont even like football but after watching this.......

"It makes you feel 31 again"

Finally, Britain opens a playground for the over 60's. The park was designed as a space for exercise, offering a range of machines that focus on working different areas of the body. Seems like a great idea - but will it catch on? Exercise in public isn't always the easiest activity.
