Is it just us...

Flicking through an old book of Hockney posters, it's brilliant to be reminded of some of the fantastic work David Hockney's given us (the people of the world). As the final page is turned and our heads whirl with a sudden urge to pick up an easel, the corner of our eyes see the artists photographic portrait on the inside back cover. Another hero of our time comes to mind...

Bubbles (From popular Canadian television series Trailer Park Boys) and Hockney.

For anyone yet to watch Trailer Park Boys (TPB), it comes with our recommendation. If you liked Hockney, you'll love TPB.

Voice Drawing

Yes, 'voice drawing'! You've tried soduku, 'work' and throwing snowballs at young children, so here's a new way to pass the time..

Use the power of your speakbox to create a continuous line drawing – just talk loudly, sing quietly, or whisper suggestively to create all manner of directional shapes. We didn't find voice drawing too easy, but ditto for GTA IV and look how good that was.

One commentator (Jesse) suggests that "It's fascinating to watch it draw out some of your favorite songs". Perhaps we'll give that a go..

Ryohei Hase

Hey, check this guy out. Takes us back to the days of fantasy art...which as it turns out never left us. Anyway, we're still fans – big fans. Hase's words of wisdom "My strongest area is realistic fantasy art...trying to express feelings which difficutl to show in words."

Keep on expressing yourself Hase, we luvvit.

"Go forward and forward"

Whilst we're talking about fantasy art, can't not mention Hajime Sorayama. Remember first discovering one of his books, 'Venom', a few years back and being blown away - some serious patience (& skill of course) I'm sure.

The new Dutch master - Delta

There are some truly brilliant things in Amsterdam, the "Venustempel" as they so perfectly describe it "A leading museum on the theme of sensual love ". It is also home to a road of wonders, a road that fullfils the wildest of dreams to all manor of balding 40 somethings.

But most importantly it is where Delta, a quickly rising star in this new fanged street art movement, beavers away in his studio. Unlike most of these rising stars his work doesn't look anything like Banksy's, and we think thats brilliant. His work is challenging, beautiful and fresh. His work pushes the boundaries of what most graffiti artists can do with a simple tag or line of type, he flirts with the line between the word and the image

Luckily for us our favorite London Gallery are currently showing a collection of some of his greats. If we had a few more pounds in our pocket we would love to get our hands on some of his more gritty work. Pop along to Elms Lesters and have a look for yourself.

You can see more of Delta's work on his site deltainc.nl.
Also Format Magazine host an insightful interview with the man behind the rubbish name.

Great up and coming events.

Sorry we haven't posted much recently, we have been extremely busy with a few projects. Once we are with finished them this be the first place they get shown, don't you worry.
We thought we would let you know about a few events happening over the next week or so.

The Cans Festival looks to be an exciting event with over 40 artist collaborating to create one huge wall of art. With street artists quickly becoming the new cool, its probably the place to be. The event invites anyone to come along and get involved, you could become the new Faile!!
To Find out more visit www.thecansfestival.com

Next is the Modern Toss Museum of Urban Shit Naks. We are working with the Modern Toss guys on a new project and they have invited us along to what looks like to be a very interesting and different show.
"Come see a collection of highly original originals - including a lifesize Alan, a selection of decorative wall-mounted ceramic Shit-Frisbees, a four hundred pound hand-knitted Book-Cosy and the Drive-by Abuser's uncompromising reappraisal of some fine art masterpieces such as Constable's fucking Haywain."
We'll be there with bells on!!
To Find out more visit www.ink-d.co.uk

Last is a show by the massively up and coming Adam Neat and the already hugely successful Ron English. This will be one of those sell out shows that is talked about all over the creative press. Adams work seems to be attacking the art world with a massive amount of force at the moment, and we assume making him bundles of cash along the way. Be there or be broke!!
To Find out more visit www.elmslesters.co.uk

We'll be showing our faces at these events so hopefully we'll see some of you there too.

Artist Barnaby Barford, winner of the Wallpaper Best Young Designer award back in 2004 is showing his wonderfully crafted, ironic and often humorous creations currently at David Gill Galleries London.
With titles such as 'Nobody Fucking Move', 'You Sexy Bitch', and 'Struggling Will Only Make It Worse' they may not be suitable for your nan's bits'n'bobs shelf. To see more of Barfords mantelpiece masterpieces check out Wallpaper magazines article.

Perfect paper airplane flight

A basic yet stunning video following the flight of a simple paper airplane. It's probably unlikely, however if this was the only take, and we had thrown it, with the perfection of the slow decent and delicate landing, it would have made us cry.

Street Art

I think we have our new YBA's!
With the huge success and world wide fame of the street artist Banksy art collectors and critics have started looking seriously at street art. Recently Damien Hurst bought up every piece in a exhibition by such artists as DFace & Faile and a guy called Adam Neate who leaves paintings around east London is now selling his work for up to £36,000 .

(Adam Neate 'The Apprentice' Sold for £36,000)

However luckly James & Joe as always have there fingers on the pulse of everything cool.... A few years ago we purchased a Banksy print, a Robert Del Naja aka 3D from Massive Attack print and found an Adam Neate painting on the streets of East London (below).

We aren't sure of the exact value of any of these pieces (if any one knows please let us know) but hopefully they will one day help pay off a little student debt.
So heads up, if you have a little spare cash to slash get your hands on some of these guys work before its worth as much as an Emin or a Hurst.

Juan Francisco and his Biro

We haven't been able to find out much about this artsist. All we know is that both these amazing images are created with only one tool, the humble Biro.
We wondered if each was the result of a very long telephone doodle.
We love it when people create amazing things with such unexpected equipment.

Fragiles: Porcelain, Glass & Ceramics

Maxim Velcovsky's, "Little Joseph" is a very different type of candle holder, we assume as the wax builds up Little Joseph slowly grows hair. However when using white candles (as in this picture), some might think it looks like something entirely different.

Free Money from the Chapman Bros

Jake & Dinos Chapman recently defaced £20 notes at this years Frieze Art Fair in reaction to the rocketing prices in the art world.
The notes went like hot cake and started selling for £100 a pop, however I imagine you would have trouble paying for a round in the pub with it.
They have widened this project and are now giving away free downloads online. Grab one before they all run out, could make a nice little poster.

Daniel Eatock’s Editions & Originals show

Daniel Eatock’s gallery show, Editions & Originals, opened at London’s Kemistry Gallery on Friday 16 November and runs into January. This is a definite must see for anyone partial to a little graphic wit and conceptual design. As soon as we've had a shifty round we'll post up a more in depth report. Until then you can read Gavin Lucas' review on the CR Blog.

John Lewis Christmas advert, "Shadows"

We are big fans of the concept behind the new add but are disappointed with the end shot, the climax to the advert.
Maybe this is just because we are aware of where they got the inspiration, Tim Noble & Sue Webster.
Noble & Websters shadows are beautiful and importantly show clearly the subject matter. This is where the John Lewis ad fails, the final shot is supposedly a woman holding a glass, with a dog. However it just isnt clear enough, when compared with Noble & Websters work.

See some more of their work here and here.

Running from Camera

A series of photographs with one thing in common, the photographer is running away.
Slightly odd, but they have something very intriguing about them, however it appears he runs a bit like a girl.
